Democrats To Host Campaign Kick-Off Sept. 15.

Borough Council President Eric Range and Councilmember Melissa Honohan together with the Madison Democratic Committee (MDC) invite the public to the Madison Democrats’ Annual Campaign Kick-Off Rally and Canvass Send-Off to be held on Sunday, September 15 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at the 6 Edgewood Road home of MDC Co-chair Alix Jennings.

Range is seeking his second three-year term on the borough council and Honohan is running for her first full three-year term after winning a special election in November 2023 to serve the final year of former Council Member Debra Coen’s unexpired term. Range and Honohan are running as a team under the slogan “Committed to listening. Dedicated to service. Optimism for Madison.”

The candidates stated, “We look forward to officially kicking-off our 2024 general election campaign.  Our hope is that many voters – supporters plus those who just want to learn more about our plans for borough government – will join us for an afternoon of friendly conversation and good food and drink.”

“Attendees will have an opportunity to meet with the candidates and learn about their perspectives on the Madison of today and their priorities and vision for the town’s future,” added MDC Co-chairs Alix Jennings and Christine Preston. “Following the event, participants will have the opportunity to join the candidates in canvasing for the candidates in the immediate neighborhood if they want to help get out the vote for all the Democrats up and down the ballot.”

Prior to joining the council, Eric Range was one of the longest serving commissioners on the Downtown Development Commission, serving for more than 15 years, including a stint as commission chair.   Later, he served on the Madison Board of Health from 2015 to 2021 and was its president from 2017 to 2021.  He is a member of the team negotiating to save the Drew Forest and as Council Public Safety Liaison, led a working group to expand EMS services provided by the Madison Fire Department.

Prior to her election to the council in November, Melissa Honohan served as a member of the Madison Planning Board and as Chair and Member of the Open Space, Recreation and Historic Preservation Advisory Committee and is its current Council Liaison. She has also served as head coach for the Madison Recreation Soccer League and on the Board of Trustees of the New Jersey Performing Arts Center.

“A donation of $25 per person or $40 per couple is requested of attendees,” stated Jennings and Preston. “You can make your contribution via the ActBlue Ticket link at https://secure.actblue.com/donate/mdckickoff2024 or you can send a check payable to the Madison Democratic Committee c/o Denice Katz, Treasurer; 24 Parkside Avenue; Madison, NJ 07940. Donations will also be accepted at the door.”
