LETTER: It was a Joy Voting for Hoover and Landrigan

EDITOR: After what feels like an endless election season, I was happy to cast my ballot this month for (Democrats) Councilman John Hoover and Bob Landrigan for the Madison Borough Council.

John was one of the first people my husband and I met when we moved to Madison five years ago. Over the years, he has helped us understand the volunteer opportunities around town that make Madison a better, stronger community. His encouragement and enthusiasm made us feel like we were welcome, right from the start.

Like John, Bob will also bring tremendous experience and commitment to the Council. As a committed volunteer and former member of the Borough Council, Bob has proven himself a valuable resource with a deep understanding of how things work in Madison. While it’s impossible to ever replace the phenomenal Councilwoman Carmela Vitale (who is not seeking re-election), I’m confident that Bob will be a trusted addition to the Council with Madison’s best interests at heart.

As I hear from friends and family across the country, I feel very fortunate to live in a state where voting has been a relatively painful process. When my ballot arrived, I only had to drive a couple blocks to drop it into a secure ballot box. I hope that everyone will remain patient — but also vigilant — as the votes are counted in the coming weeks. Sign up to track your ballot once you’ve dropped it off or mailed it, and encourage everyone you know to vote and make their voices heard.
