Madison Democrats Plan Summer Social on July 20

Madison Democrats will celebrate the nomination of their 2025 candidates for Madison Borough Council, former Council Member Debra Coen of Hoyt Street and current Council Member Tom Haralampoudis of Pomeroy Road, at an outdoor Summer Social to be held at the 54 Maple Avenue home of Ann and Herm Huber on Sunday, July 20 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.

“To register, supporters of the candidates can respond to our invitation or go to the website of the Madison Democratic Committee (MDC), http://www.madisonnjdems .com, and click on “Summer Social” at the top of the home page,” advised Campaign Manager Maria Slabaugh. “A suggested donation of $40 per person or $75 per couple is requested of attendees, and last-minute walkups will be welcomed.”

Candidates Coen and Haralampoudis stated: “We hope that many of our Madison supporters will join us for what promises to be a fun evening of conversation, connections, and refreshments on July 20 and that all Madison voters will plan to vote for us – and the entire Democratic ticket – on November 4”.

Coen is running for the council seat currently held by Rachel Ehrlich, who is not running for re-election. Haralampoudis is seeking re-election for a second term. The two are running as a team with the campaign slogan: “Your Voice, Our Commitment – Partnering for a Better Madison.”

During her two council terms, Debra Coen served as the Finance and Borough Clerk liaison, Health Department liaison, and was on the Shared Services Committee. In her second term she spearheaded the renovation project that has brought Madison families a new, all-inclusive playground at Dodge Field.
During his first term on council, Tom Haralampoudis has served as liaison for the Electric Utility Committee, the Madison Board of Health, and Madison Board of Education.

Previously, he had served on the Madison Public Library Board of Trustees, the Madison Board of Health, and the board of HQM, Inc. (formerly the Madison Housing Corporation). He was also president of the Madison Junior School Sports Program, is a past chairman of the Madison Environmental Commission, served four years on the Madison Board of Education, and was a co-founder of the Sustainable Madison Advisory Committee.

Voters can read more about both candidates on the MDC website or on the MDC Facebook page.
